Lamborghini: An Inside Look

Automobili Lamborghini, located in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy was the brain child of Ferruccio Lamborghini, originally a tractor manufacturer. The genesis of Lamborghini was Ferruccio's dissatisfaction with the service rendered to him by Ferrari when he complained about the clutch assembly in his first Ferrari, a 250GT. How's that for starting your own car company?

Lamborghini isn't the kind of company that likes to rush things either. In the nearly 50 years they have been around (they turn 50 in 2013), there have only been 5 flagship models, starting with the Miura, followed by the Countach, the Diablo, the Murcielago and the current superstar, the 700HP monster Aventador. Their trademark in addition to naming their cars after famous bulls in the rink is the V12 engine that powers every single one of these beasts. Their radical design is also something that always catches the eye. You know it's a Lambo when you see one.

Currently owned by Audi, assembly of Lamborghini cars continues at the automaker's ancestral home in Sant'Agata Bolognese, where engine and automobile production lines run side-by-side at the company's single factory. The company currently produces only two models, the V10 powered Gallardo and the V12 powered Aventador. What's interesting is despite being such a high end auto manufacturer, the factory still has that small town feel.
