Critiqued: Housefull 2

If you have seen the trailer, you should have a pretty good idea of what this film is all about. Forget about the first film Housefull when you do watch Housefull 2. It is as though the producers hit the reset button after the first one. With such a loaded cast, we find it amazing that not a single person seemed to hog all the limelight or glory in this absolutely hilarious comedy of errors. There is a BUT here though... Shreyas Talpade and Shazahn Padamsee seemed to melt into the background just because of the sheer volume of stars on screen and mega-stars at that. It is hard to say they all acted well since there were so many characters (we aren't going to name them all) and so many situations going on at the same time. They were all very entertaining and we are still trying to catch our breath after laughing so hard while watching this film... and we are pretty sure the rest of the movie goers that were in the theater with us are as well.

From a story point of view, there isn't much, you get the idea from the trailer. But the execution was simply classic with so many stars from yesteryear (by the way there is one surprising cameo but we will refrain from telling who it is - think of Bollywood baddie from the 70s and 80s) as well as today. Sajid Khan has definitely taken the ensemble cast mantra and done a number on it. Guess a good director knows how to handle his stars and how to tie them all together with an entertaining situational comedy storyline! Malaika Arora Khan also showed why she doesn't need to act in an entire film to earn her chops with a sizzling performance in 'Anarkali Disco Chali'. And man does she look good. The rest of the eye candy isn't too bad either! The film runs for about 2.5 hours but with the jokes and laughter you will definitely not notice it go by. And interestingly enough, there weren't too many songs either. But the ones they did have had very catchy tunes.

So if you are looking for an entertainer and a performance where you can go and spend a couple of hours amidst fits of laughter, Housefull 2 is a must see. A word of advice, if you don't know Hindi too well, make sure you take someone who does with you. The jokes in Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi are absolutely hilarious if you can understand the language and the situations they are used in!
