Happy 100th Alan Turing

It is hard to imagine a world without computers. Almost everything that we do on a day to day basis has a computer somewhere in the background. Not just that, on the invention known as the computer, there are numerous languages in order to present information to the reader. Doesn't matter in which form, be it a web page, an app, a game and so on. A single person is responsible for this and widely regarded as the father of the modern computer. His name is Alan Turing and were this genius alive today, we would be celebrating a century of his birth. 

An English mathematician, logician, crypt-analyst and computer scientist, he was highly influential in the development of computer science, providing a formalization of the concepts of algorithm and computation with the Turing machine, which played a significant role in the creation of the modern computer. The Turing machine is a device that manipulates symbols on a strip of tape according to a table of rules. Despite its simplicity, a Turing machine can be adapted to simulate the logic of any computer algorithm, and is particularly useful in explaining the functions of a CPU inside a computer.

If only Turing were alive to see the fruits of his labor... considering you would be hard-pressed to find a single field that doesn't run without the use of computers these days. He died in 1954, just over two weeks before his 42nd birthday, from cyanide poisoning.
