We are still trying to catch our breath after this flick. Udhayanidhi Stalin's foray into the acting world in Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (A Stone A Mirror) is a resounding success and he was greatly helped in part by comedian Santhanam's great jokes and comedic timing. Udhayanidhi was also supported in this romantic comedy (more comedy than romance) by Hansika Motwani who plays his love interest, Saranya Ponvannan who plays his mother and is absolutely hilarious in her role, Azhagam Perumal as the father and veteran actor Sayaji Shinde as the father of the girl.
If you are expecting a great story you will be disappointed. But what you will appreciate is how they manage to traverse through the story using comedy all the way. The inexperience of Udhayanidhi and Santhanam in lead roles also shows especially when they have to dance in some of the songs. They seemed too stiff and uncomfortable but that will definitely be overlooked when you watch the entire film. A note here though; You have to be fluent in Tamil and be a native of Chennai to really understand the jokes throughout the film. There is absolutely no action but the situational comedy coupled with some great songs by Harris Jayaraj make OK OK a very entertaining prospect for the family. Factor in cameos by Sneha and Arya, it makes director M. Rajesh's (also who directed Boss Engira Baskaran) third comedy with Santhanam a big hit. For producer turned actor Udhayanidhi, this film is a great platform to start off in case he wants to make a career in front of the camera instead of behind it.
OK OK is currently playing in Chennai at Satyam, PVR and INOX theaters (and any other theaters you can find!).
