In case you were wondering, that's the curriculum vitae of the top drivers lined up for yet another exciting season of Formula 1. Never before has the grid had 6 world champions racing against one another in one of the longest seasons in Formula 1 history. It is definitely a treat for all racing fans to be able to witness and follow the best drivers in the world for 9 months! With current champion Sebastian Vettel going for a three-peat, he will have to get by 5 other former world champions in 7 time winner Michael Schumacher, 2 time winner Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and the Ice Man Kimi Raikkonen, who is back in Formula 1 after a 3 year hiatus.
With all the technical modifications to level the field, the racing the 2012 season is going to be a sight to behold. The removal of the exhaust diffusers, ban of helium in wheelguns (read: slower pit stops), a single tire manufacturer in Pirelli and a new nose height restriction (read: hammerhead looking cars) also means another attempt to level the playing field. We also have 2 more tracks in the schedule this year; the addition of US Grand Prix at the brand new Circuit of the Americas at Austin and the return of the Bahrain Grand Prix at Sakhir. All this makes for a very compelling reason to get into Formula 1 racing if you haven't already or look forward to a great season. The season begins tomorrow with practice at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne with the race on Sunday, March the 18th. Will all teams be playing catch up to Red Bull Racing like last year? Or will the modified technical regulations mean a lot more teams coming out with all guns blazing? So who are you rooting for?
